Answers:
most of the time they get better but not always , if i was you i would talk to a vet that deals in reptiles and they can usually tell you what you can do
it will get alittle bit better, but it may never heal completely
a site that may help is
http://www.2ndchance.info/mbd-iguana.htm.
also, check out www.anapsid.org for more info. It's the best for reptiles.
The key ingredient to this is proper UVB lighting (fluorescent tube) and the proper amount of calcium powder added to its diet. Normally iguanas do not need much calcium added to their diet and get it from the proper foods. Too much calcium can actually poison the iguana. Make sure it's an iguana and not something like a Chinese water dragon. Many people confuse the two and the diets are totally different. ALL REPTILES NEED THE PROPER UVB LIGHTING, and if you are not supplying this, you will have a sickly reptile. Do your research. Join one of the many iguana groups on the internet (try Yahoo) and ask questions and learn. You don't want to become another neglectful owner, do you?
keep iguana warm give it calcium with greens three times a week and if it don't eat feed it water with a plastic spoon keep it hydrated.give it sunlight as much as possible don't leave iguana in direct sun also provide a shaded area.
